Howto use mold component catalog

$

0

Dear,

I've installed Creo 1.0 M030.

I've checked the options "Mold Component Catalog" and "Plastic Advisor" during installation.

Plastic Advisor works, but I can't get any access to the Mold Component Catalog.

In the past (WildFire area) I've created a directory c:\ptc\prolib

In this directory I placed the following subfolders : objlib, mfglib, moldlib and created a prolib.mnu file.

I added the following to the config.pro

pro_library_dir c:\ptc\prolib

and all worked fine.

Now I do the following in Creo 1.0 : I create a new assembly (suboption Mold Layout).

I want to create a new MoldBase as I did in the past. I pick a moldbase from Hasco. Then Creo says in the message window it cannot retrieve the parts.

In the installation manual it says all libraries are installed within the common files section. However I can't find any library file there.

As the manual doesn't say a thing about pro_library_dir I disabled this and copied the folder moldlib to this common files folder.

To cut a long story short I tried everything I could, but was unable to get this working.

The only thing to get this working is if I add the following to the config.pro

pro_library_dir c:\ptc\prolib\moldlib

Then it works, but how am I supposed to use the other libraries like the manufacturing libraries e.g. ?

And help or advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Profile milling, avoiding retract

$

I've been fighting Creo2 (and WF4 previously), trying to avoid or suppress retracting while in a profile milling sequence. I have the retract plane defined 50mm above the fixture and part, but I have a wide open space where the tool could simply move from the end of one cut to the start of the next with no interference. Creo insists on retracting which is a waste of time and causes unnecessary wear and tear of the machine.

One friend suggested placing the retract plane at the bottom of the feature but that doesn't work either. At this point, I'm simply editing out the offending code in the NC program, but this is a major PITA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

CNC Machining within Creo 2.0

Hi all,

Used Creo purely for 3D modelling and 2D drawing for years now, but have been asked to investigate the use of Cad/Cam for our facility.  Looked around on the website and found the extension called PTC Creo Complete Machining Extension, but then tried within Creo itself to produce a Manufacturing model, by starting a new part and selecting Manufacturing from the type menu and Expert Machinist from the sub-type, which led me into a type of NC wizard.  What functionality for cad/cam does Creo 2.0 give me, or does it tempt you in and then get you to purchase an add on like Complete Machining.

Thanks in advance

5 axis machining & post processor.

Hi guys,

1.          Can someone give me a description on how to go about a 5 axis
milling ? I've done alot of 3 axis with Pro/Man but 5 axis is new to me.If
you have some information on how I should go about doing that (online
resources, books etc), I would greatly appreciate it. Even a few lines in
reply to this email about the basics would be a good start for me.Can u
people out there send me some of your work of 5 axis machining done in
pro/nc. I'll reverse engineer that & it'd be of great help to me.

2.          We have a DMU 60 5 axis machining center with heidenhain TNC
425 controller. The machine has a rotary table which is read by machine as
a C axis while a tilting head which is read as B axis. The tilting head
can tilt at 90 degree & becomes a horizontal machining centre. Actually
the B axis is not a straight one, but at an angle with the Y axis in
vertical plane so that when the head tilts about it, it ( the head) comes
to a hrizontal machining center position.  I don't see such a machine with
these axis in the option file generator ( Applications > Post Processor
).If u need, I have an image illustrating this machine, & i can send it to
u guys. If somebody out there has post for this machine & willing to share
, i'd be really grateful to him/her.

Thanks in advance,

Creo CNC Program and post processor code generating capabilities

Hi,

Currently we are dealing with 2 machines at client site . Now how can we know that if code generated by Creo Machining extension can be directly integrated with these machines or not. If we require to develop post processsor then how much it will cost to develop new post procesor.

Is there some list of machines and manufacturers which show direct integration or post processor requirement? I am from sales back ground so i need basic info.

Dynamic milling like MasterCAM?

Good morning,

It was brought to my attention by a new coworker that use to
program using MasterCAM on how to improve our machining process. He showed
me some videos of the Dynamic milling and it looked really fast and
efficient. Would anybody that is using Creo Manufacturing have some
guidelines and parameter settings to help me achieve this with Creo 3.0? I
think we can do the same thing that is in MasterCAM.

Thanks.

Roughing sequence and plunge feed

$

Dear all,

When using the roughing sequence to rough a pocket I see there is no option to enter a plunge feed.

When using an end mill this is essential in order not to damage the flutes.

I've tried entering a ramp speed and specify explicitly a ramp angle of 90° (which is the default setting).

This has no effect on the resulting toolpath. The only feed applied is the default cut_feed.

2017-04-20_11-02-40.png

The volume rough sequence does have this option but I can't use that sequence for this particular toolpath.

2017-04-20_11-04-06.png

Is it possible to specify a plunge feed with the roughing sequence ?

Creo NC - How to create a custom tool Parameter file

$

For example, I would like "COORDINATE_OUTPUT" to default to SEQUENCE_SYS instead of the current MACHINE_SYS every time I make a new tool path.

Also, is there a way to custom populate the quick parameter options under the "parameter" tab?  Common used parameters such as FIXT_OFFSET_REG used to set your G54-59, should be readily available, and I would not have to open the advanced parameter to access it.  Any way to do this?

Moduleworks : Cutcom still not working

I'm really getting annoyed about this Moduleworks. I loaded this morning Creo 3.0 M110 full of hope about this new release.

I started programming a new part and simulated, cutcom is still not correctly simulated !!!   What's going on ? A simulating tool is to make sure everything goes well, not supposed to give doubts about what we are doing. I'm once more going to go back to M080 which works with Vericut perfectly.

I'm going to open a new case about this "new" problem !!

I can't see the benefits of paying a maintenance to get such a result. In our company, we're seriously thinking about changing cam software for many reasons. And these problem are just confirming what we are thinking.

And when will Pro/NC will be a standalone module ? Our company is well developing and we're getting more and more job. We are thinking of hiring a new employee, to have one on

CAD and the other one on CAM. But actually with Creo it's really a big problem !!! Who can think of paying a CAD licence to do CAM job ? Serisously !!

ModuleWorks to replace Vericut

$

Hi all, just read this in article CS226148,

  • ModuleWorks will replace NCCHECK & VERICUT starting from versions below:
    • Creo Parametric 2.0 M210
    • Creo Parametric 3.0 M090
  • Starting from above versions, Vericut won't be available for use anymore
    • To perform material removal simulation, select NC sequence from model tree > RMB> Material Removal Simulation, it will access ModuleWorks
    • The default value of config.pro option nccheck_type is changed to moduleworks
  • Main Reasons of the choice of ModuleWorks is that :
    • It offers the capability to Simulate Material Removal Embedded in Creo Parametric (Only NCCHECK allowed that)
    • It is not limited as NCCHECK was in the past
    • It allows usage of OpenGL libraries used by Creo and improves by this way User Experience (possible smooth rotations of the manufacturing assembly in Creo When Material is being removed in ModuleWorks)

What do you think about this ? Do you know ModuleWorks ?

Create solid model milling tool

$

I am trying to create a milling tool from a solid model. It is a special shape that I want to make sure cuts correctly. The solid model has 1 feature - Revolve. When I am in a manufacturing file, these are the steps I am taking: click Tools Setup, File, New, Open Tool Library - By Reference... and I choose the solid model. But nothing happens. I remember in training we did this and the model came right up. I think the difference may be that the solid had named dimensions such as length, cutter dia. etc. Do I need to do this with my solid model for it to work? If so, how do I name those dimensions in my solid? Is there anything else I am missing? I have attached the cutting tool file just in case that helps.

Thanks,

Brandon

using solid tools and need help with all tool parameter names...

Good morning,
I am starting to use solid tools to help with collision checks. I
created a solid tool and got it into my session of ProMan but I do not know
all the parameters name to finish up the geometry page.
Like, "length=Tool Length" and "cutter_diam=Cutter Diameter". I am trying to
fill out all the information for the tool but have no luck with the correct
parameter names. If anybody knows or has a copy of all the parameters for
tool descriptions it will be helpful.

Thanks.
